5 things I learned about AirPods Pro 2

As the shuttle headed to Birmingham International Airport, my Apple Watch Ultra touched my wrist.”You forgot your AirPods Pro 2,” he said. After a brief moment of panic, I reached into both pockets of my jeans. Great! I can feel the familiar bulge of the AirPods Pro case in my right pocket. Panic is over. It should be a weird find my mistake, nothing to worry about. However, this was not the case, as I will now explain. But my run-in with an errant pair of  Pro earlier this week added to my experience with Apple’s latest. I won’t criticize a product in advance, they give me talking points and today I have five things I want to share with your AirPods price in Pakistan.

1. Everyone loves them.

I have yet to read or see a review of the AirPods Pro 2, which is no different from the Flash. Everyone seems to be fascinated and amazed by Apple’s latest noise-canceling AirPods. The only thing that doesn’t surprise me is the collective reaction. This is just a revelation. The original AirPods Pro was great, don’t get me wrong. They combine the best of non-Pro AirPods — comfort, integration with the Apple ecosystem, and smart charging — with great sound, unparalleled comfort, and surprisingly good noise cancellation.

The AirPods Pro 2 feature even better sound, a much more comfortable fit, and noise cancellation and transparency modes that are virtually identical to their in-ear counterparts. If the Apple Watch Ultra hadn’t been released at the same time, the AirPods Pro 2 would have been Apple’s product of the year.

2. Dory was a good cry

I mocked the strap on the new AirPods Pro 2 case. I thought there would be another ridiculously expensive accessory from Apple. Not like this. You can’t buy an Apple-branded strap, though Apple has opted to cut out a small piece of the case and insert a metal loop for the strap. Instead, you’ll have to select something in the third person. However, you’ll be glad you did, because it’s a small addition.

After a lot of research (surprisingly hard to find the right size strap) I picked up these toe straps from Amazon. They fit perfectly in the AirPods Pro 2 case and you get five different colors in the package if you want to switch things up every once in a while. Adding a strap to your AirPods Pro bag doesn’t exactly change your life, but it does make them a little more personal and, more importantly, easier to grab deep in your bag or pants pocket. This is a sweet update and I fell in love with it more than I thought I would.

3. I’m less likely to wear in-ear Airpods.

When I travel, I usually take my AirPods Pro and a pair of on-ear noise-canceling AirPods with me. This time I decided to do another drop. The noise cancellation in the AirPods Pro 2 is so good that the need to carry anything else bulky in your bag becomes highly questionable. Why take up all that space with a big, chunky in-ear headphone case when Apple AirPods are knocking on the door for noise-canceling capabilities?

I even found myself doing it at home during my morning writing sessions. Instead of focusing on the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Can, which is supposed to be the best, I leaned toward the AirPods Pro 2. I shouldn’t digress: when it comes to the best possible noise cancellation (especially if you’re in a windy or particularly noisy environment), nothing beats in-ear AirPods. But god, the new AirPods Pro is coming soon!

4. I forgot to complain about the lack of USB-C.

I still can’t believe I forgot to mention this during my original AirPods Pro 2 review, but I’ll blame you for distracting me from its best features. Unfortunately, the worst feature of the second-generation AirPods Pro, by an absolute country mile, is Apple’s ridiculous decision to stick with Lightning for charging. And I’m glad I waited until now to write this blog post because Tim & Co. just gave me even more reason to worry about it unnecessarily. We just got a new Apple TV 4K, which is basically the same as the old one.

There are some differences though, including a slightly updated Siri Remote… which now comes with USB-C charging. That’s right, Apple decided to include the most common charging method in the latest version of the Siri Remote but decided not to include it in the AirPods Pro 2. Let’s not forget that AirPods Pro 2 is part of a product category where everyone (in fact, literally only one) uses USB-C to charge the competition.

5. It always falls out of the case.

Back to the airport:

Birmingham was surprisingly busy at 4 am that day, and the line for boarding passes threatened to ruin my breakfast plans. I had great ideas for getting past security, go to one of those places that give you a pre-dawn cappuccino or pint of Stella (I’d go with the former, obviously, I’m in business was on) and order the largest complete English. On the menu, Unfortunately, it was clearly not to be. A long line awaited me after seeing the ominous words “LAST BLANK” on the check-out board and the inevitable frantic rush to the gate. To beat the breakfast blues, I decided to listen to a podcast while secretly waiting for my seat with the KLM check-in staff.

I took the AirPods Pro case out of my pocket and knowing it was safe, I opened the lid only to find two gaps. There are no AirPods. I only had an AirPods Pro case that was missing the most important thing inside. I pulled my iPhone out of my opponent’s pocket and turned on Find Me. This is the image that greeted me when I clicked on the location of my second-generation AirPods Pro:

Lost AirPods Pro 2:

The case was now separated from the AirPods by about a mile and a runway at Birmingham Airport. It would have been impossible to pick them up just an hour before the scheduled departure of the flight. It happened to me; He knew exactly what had happened. This morning, in a foggy haze, I dropped my AirPods Pro on the floor of my hotel room. I didn’t think anything of it. When they were picked up from the ground, the case was still closed and everything seemed fine. But it wasn’t, was it?

Because I forgot the first rule of the AirPods Pro Drop Club: the case lid always opens on impact, drops the AirPods, and closes immediately. If you miss this event, you’ll probably think you’re fine and leave your stranded AirPods Pro behind. As mentioned above, the AirPods Pro 2 was the only audio device I took with me on this trip, which meant I had the whole thing with me without music in my ears, podcasts, or video editing. It was two days ahead. The good news is that the lovely hotel staff collected my AirPods and stored them until my return, but still, I wish the case would be a little more impactful next time.

Last thought:

If Apple hadn’t launched the Apple Watch Ultra this year, the AirPods Pro 2 would have been its 2022 product. It still amazes me. It was such a harmless and seemingly boring upgrade to an already great product. I still wonder if Apple knew this would be a backlash or, like the rest of us, assumed the latest generation of AirPods Pro would quietly slip into the national consciousness.

So, I believe it is the latter. I think we all know that Apple has big plans for 2023 and products like the second-generation AirPods Pro have been more of the “get it and move on” kind of thing. Fortunately, and I think inadvertently, this latest version of the AirPods Pro has been one of the biggest surprises of the year.
